Home lifts

A stairlift is not always the right mobility solution for everyone. Your staircase might be too restrictive to accommodate a stairlift or your mobility circumstances mean you use a wheelchair.

In these cases, it is well worth considering a home lift (also called wheelchair lifts, platform lifts or through floor lifts).

Residential lifts specialists

As residential lifts are very specialised, we partner with a leading manufacturer and installer Companion Homelifts who are domestic lifts specialists to ensure the most appropriate floor home lift for you, your home and your budget can be found. The lifts are self supporting structures so you don’t have to worry about what elements in your house will be needed to support them.

In addition, all homelifts fully comply with the British Standard BS5900:2012 which requires that the seal between the through-the-floor lift and the aperture for the lift be maintained whether the lift is parked at the upper or lower level. A domestic lift that is right for you

As part of the site survey, they get to understand your access needs. For instance, if you are a wheelchair user what wheelchair access will be required for you to enter and exit the home lift safely. They also fully inspect the most likely sites for a home lift installation.

So they can determine where a lift shaft can be safely deployed that won’t interfere with other structural elements such as load bearing walls, utilities pipes or wiring and other issues across all the floors required. From this a domestic lift design can be calculated and specified that is bespoke to your home.

Home lift features

Easy to access

All domestic lifts have level (16mm) access making it easy to enter and exit for wheelchair users or walking passengers without the need for a pit or ramp. A power operated door is available as an option.

Heavy lifting capability

A Home lift can carry up to 255kg making them ideal for transporting a wheelchair user and their carer at the same time, or for transferring heavy or cumbersome items such as suitcases

Energy saving and eco-friendly

Traction drive home lifts have low running costs. Powered electronically, the system is clean and environmentally friendly, requiring 56% less power to run than a hydraulic system.

Smooth and quiet

Domestic lifts have a soft start/stop facility as standard and the traction drive system is quieter by up to 19%.

Simple operation

In-car light, mirror and illuminated controls as standard. Remote control call stations, in-car telephone and diagnostic displays are available in a home lift.

Compact

A home lift from us has a small footprint and no obtrusive side posts thanks to a unique design featuring only rear space-saving posts.

Safety features

Sensors fitted to the top, bottom and sides of the lift car detect any obstructions and bring the lift to a safe stop automatically. A battery back-up system means that in the event of a power cut, the lift will finish its journey allowing passengers to exit the lift safely.

Cab styles

Choose from open and enclosed cab styles for your domestic lift according to the users’ needs or preference.

Seat options
